these buttweld fittings.
Hastelloy C22 Buttweld Fittings is an
alloy comprising nickel, chromium, molybdenum, and tungsten. It is
austenitic in nature and is versatile in nature. The alloy has outstanding
resistance to a variety of forms of corrosion, including pitting, SCC, and
crevice corrosion. In an aqueous environment, it has high oxidizing
resistance including chlorine solution with nitric acid, chlorine ion
oxidizing acids, and many more organic and inorganic acids. This alloy can
be cold worked due to great ductility but might require intermediate
annealing and can be annealed at temperatures between 2020-2150°F which is
immediately proceeded by rapid cooling with water and forging can be done at
1750-2050° F. The tensile strength of the alloy is 112 Ksi (min) and 0.2%
offset yield strength is 53 Ksi (min) along with a hardness of 89 HRb (min).

Due to the high nickel content in Hastelloy C22 Buttweld
Fittings, its resistance to oxidizing and reducing agents and
environments is optimal. Also after welding this alloy's buttweld fitting, there is no
formation of grain boundary precipitates. Welding of Hastelloy C22 can be done using the
gas metal arc process. However, this alloy shouldn't be used in service temperatures
over 1250°F, as this would deteriorate the alloy and lead to the formation of
detrimental phases, limiting its usage.
Hastelloy C22 Buttweld Fittings resistance to a number of oxidizing and
reducing environments makes it useful in chlorination systems, pesticide production,
chemical process industry, and nuclear fuel reprocessing. In the pharmaceutical area,
these fittings are useful to remove the contaminations due to corrosion.
