Excellent oxidation resistance is provided by austenitic Stainless Steel 310 up to 2000oF. It has 25% of chromium and 20% nickel. The high chromium and medium nickel content of these steels makes them suitable for decreasing sulfur atmospheres with hydrogen sulfide (H2S). Because it is low grade, it resists brittleness and sensitization. Even at very low temperatures, like as -450°F, it has a medium degree of hardness and strength.
SS310S has excellent heat resisting properties. With comparable electrodes and filler metals, stainless steel grade 310/310S is welded. Due to its rigidity and low magnetic permeability, it is frequently employed in cryogenic applications. Steel 310 is frequently used in thermal processing, power reactors, and food processing applications.
