The corrosion resistance of Incoloy 825 is very excellent. It has a very stable austenite structure and high nickel content, which is enough to prevent it from being stressed by chloride ions. Due to its molybdenum and copper contents, the alloy is resistant to acids and reducing agents. Nitric acid solutions, nitrates, and oxidizing salts are oxidizing conditions that are resistant to chromium.
Hot or cold working of Inconel 825 is simple. Hot working should be done at a temperature between 870 and 1180°C, with completion at 870 to 980°C. Before use, hot-worked parts should be stabilized by annealing for optimal corrosion resistance. Compared to stainless steel, the alloy is simpler to cold shape. This Alloy 825 is utilized in pickling, acid production, oil and natural gas well pipe, pollution prevention, the petrochemical industry, and emissions control machinery.
