Hastelloy C22, commonly known as alloy C22, is a flexible austenitic nickel-chromium-molybdenum-tungsten alloy with improved resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking. Good resistance to oxidizing media is provided by the high chromium concentration, while good resistance to reducing media is provided by the high molybdenum and tungsten content.
Even more so than C276 and 625, Alloy C22 is one of the most corrosion-resistant materials on the market. Nearly all reducing and oxidizing conditions, such as seawater, powerful oxidizers, and organic acids, are inhospitable to it. Moreover, Nickel Alloy C22 has outstanding resistance to stress corrosion cracking, pitting, and other localized corrosion caused by chlorides, such as in crevices and seams. Because of C22's excellent resistance to corrosion, it is increasingly being used in a wide range of industries, including the paper, oil & gas, food processing, pharmaceutical, and paper industries, as well as other areas where severe environments are present.
