A nickel-based alloy with a high strength-to-weight ratio is called Hastelloy. The nickel content is what gives the material great corrosion resistance. Because of its outstanding corrosion resistance, Hastelloy is categorized as a superalloy. The alloy is composed of nickel, molybdenum, iron, tungsten, and chromium. Due to the combination of these elements, it is resistant to corrosion at high temperatures as well as in the presence of potent oxidizing or reducing agents. Hastelloy also has good mechanical strength, strong durability even in a strongly reducing environment, surface stability, and other characteristics.
