Hastelloy C276 is now the
most flexible corrosion-resistant alloy in use. It has a 5.5% iron content, a 16.5%
chromium content, a 16.5% molybdenum content, and a 57.5% nickel content. Because of its
resistance to grain boundary precipitate in weld heat zones, it can be used in the
majority of chemical operations. It can also endure stress corrosion pitting at
temperatures of up to 1900 degrees Fahrenheit. It is unaffected by chlorine dioxide
solutions, hypochlorite, or chlorine gas. Strong oxidizing salts like cupric and Ferris
salts do not affect Hastelloy C276. In the paper sector, bleach and digester plants
employ Plates manufactured by Hastelloy C276. They are also present in machine
components that work in basic or acidic conditions. Its high resistivity makes it useful
in desulfurization plants. Heat exchangers, filters, evaporators, and mixers used in
sulphuric acid environments all make use of Hastelloy C276 Plates.
Forged Hastelloy C276 fittings are used in several types of
equipment that produce organic chloride. Equipment for chemical reactions using halide
or acid catalysts also used Hastelloy C276 Plates. They are also employed by the food
and pharmaceutical industries. Because it reduces food reactivity, it is used in the
food industry. The components of the alloy are safe to eat even if they have a small
level of reactivity. It is used in oil fields because of its anti-corrosive properties
to deal with naturally sour environments. The hydrogen embrittlement stress cracking
that can cause steel to degrade is prevented by Hastelloy C 276 Plates. Other
applications for Hastelloy C276 include heat exchangers, pressure vessels, valves,
evaporators, fittings, pumps, and important sectors like soap, paint, chemicals,
adhesives, etc.
