grade forged fitting is a molybdenum-bearing austenitic stainless steel with
greatly increased resistance to chemical attack compared to similar range
grades like SS 304. Alloy 317L grade forged fittings contain around 3-4
percent molybdenum, this is the element that gives this grade of SS its
versatile properties. Also, grade 317L SS contains around 2 percent
manganese and 1 percent silicon in their overall chemical composition.
Grade 317L forged fitting is a lower
carbon version and the low carbon content of Alloy 317L enables it to be
welded without intergranular corrosion resulting from chromium carbide
precipitation enabling it to be used in the as-welded condition. The alloy
grade 317 provides improved resistance relative to 316L in strongly
corrosive environments containing sulfurous media, and other halides.
Superior grade 317L fittings have excellent corrosion resistance to a wide
range of chemicals.
